The tie rods connect the steering to the wheels (quite a necessary link, really). Over time the ball joins wear, resulting in excess play to the steering. Wear can also induce knocks and creaks to the steering system. Complete failure can be both dangerous and costly. Replace yours to restore steering feel in your E30.

Please note that this tie rod assembly can be used for both left and right sides for vehicles not fitted with a steering damper, but is only suitable for the left side if the E30 does have the optional steering damper fitted.
